Dialysate source
PureFlow SL mixes dialysate at home from a single SAK. Bags use pre-mixed bagged dialysate hung on an IV pole.
Logging method
How treatment data is recorded. Nx2me iPad captures cycler data automatically; paper requires manual entry on the dialysis center's flowsheet.

Voice performance notes — tap to open
The Android speech recognizer needs a clean signal. Ambient noise from the cycler, PureFlow, fan, or TV can mask short commands like "next" or "save note". For best results during treatment, keep the phone within about 3 feet of your mouth: in a shirt pocket, clipped to a lanyard, or flat on a table directly in front of you while seated. Avoid placing it across the room or on the cycler itself (vibration).
Speech recognition is not perfect — even the best phones miss a command now and then, so expect to repeat occasionally. Older Android versions tend to need more repeats; newer hardware is more reliable but still drops a command randomly. Don't count on 100% command-to-action on every step without a repeat. If you find yourself constantly repeating commands, consider increasing the number of training utterances and retrain the model.
Remember: garbage in, garbage out. Recognition quality is bounded by the phone's microphone, the speech engine that ships with the OS version, and how clean the audio path is. A flagship in a quiet room performs very differently from an older mid-range device next to a running cycler.
Voice mode
When off, the voice bar in the checklist is replaced by Previous / Add Note / Next buttons. No microphone, no spoken steps.
When off, advancing highlights the step silently instead of reading the line.
When on, voice mode auto-engages when you tap Start new session and the first step is read aloud. When off, voice stays off until you toggle it from the voice bar.
When on, the screen may go dark on the normal idle timeout while voice mode runs. Mic stays open and step audio still plays. Saves battery on long treatments.
Voice output
RenaPal uses the device's default text-to-speech voice. Whatever's set as the system default plays. Additional voices are available through the Android Text-to-speech settings (System → Languages & input → Text-to-speech output), or by installing a different TTS engine from the Play Store.

Voice input
When on, voice commands are ignored unless prefixed with "RenaPal". Useful when others are talking nearby.
Command setup
Change the trigger word for each built-in command. Example: replace "next" with "boom", or "add note" with "scribble". One trigger per command.
Command tuning
Review and remove existing custom corrections, including the seeded fallbacks for common mishearings (e.g., "shave note" → save note).
Train voice commands
Tap Train next to any command. Say the command 2-3 times the way you naturally say it. Anything heard close-but-not-exact is mapped automatically so future utterances fire reliably. Rows reflect your current trigger words from Alter Command Triggers.
How many times you'll be asked to say each command during training. Default is 3. Older phones or unusual pronunciations may need more to lock in.
Prescription
Values are determined by the clinic and should not be changed without clinic review and approval.
Patient-specific values used throughout the checklist. The checklist substitutes these in at render time so the spoken and on-screen steps always reflect what's set here. Tap the ↻ next to a value to see its change history. Current weight is per-treatment (also editable from the bottom nav Weight button); Weight to lose is computed (current − target, clamped to zero).
Timers
Adds a blood-drop chip (countdown) to the timer bar. When it hits zero a verbal reminder fires, then the timer restarts after the buffer below.
Default is the "Take vitals at start of treatment" step. The reminder starts automatically the first time the checklist advances past the selected step.
⚠ Reminder to log BP is on. It won't run if no auto-start step is selected.
How often the BP reminder fires once started.
Delay between the reminder firing and the timer restarting its countdown. Gives time to actually take the reading.
Cannulation Hold Timer
Used to set the time to hold gauze over an access site once the needle is pulled.
How long the first cannulation-site hold timer runs in section F3. Default is 5 min. After this expires, the app offers to extend with more time. Once the 30-minute mark is hit, an advisory is triggered for emergency services.
Maintenance reminders
For each scheduled task, record the last time it was performed and set how many days before the next due date you want to be reminded. The log itself (entry and PDF share) lives on the Maintenance log and entry page.
Schedule day of week
Future tasks default to the natural calendar date (e.g. a monthly task done on the 5th is next due the 5th of next month). To pin all tasks to a specific weekday, pick one below; the task will be scheduled on the most recent occurrence of that day on or before the calendar deadline.

Switching reloads. T-10 / T-5 / Expired auto-fire their popup. Expired represents what the user sees after the trial calendar runs out. (Internally the downgrade waits for the next treatment to finish, but the popup never mentions that — telegraphing the rule would invite stalling.)

Android compatibility
Android 10 and newer — recommended for optimal performance. On-device speech recognition, fastest response, voice biasing fully active.
Android 8 and 9 — supported. Speech recognition is less accurate. May require additional voice training and/or repeated command utterances to reach the same hands-free reliability.
Android 7 — minimum supported version. Requires an active internet connection for online voice services. Voice training is not available for accuracy tuning on this version.
Phones without Google Play Services (some Huawei post-2019, AOSP forks) — touch checklist works; voice mode is unavailable.
Note: even on flagship phones, speech recognition is never 100% accurate. Background noise, accents, fatigue, or a turned head can cause occasional misses. Plan to repeat a command now and then regardless of phone tier.

Notification sounds silenced
Notification and system sounds have been silenced while voice mode is on so they do not interrupt the treatment. Phone calls still ring normally.
To hear notification sounds during treatment, increase the Notification or System volume here in settings.
Waking the screen back up
The phone keeps running while the screen is dark - the mic and step audio still work. A single tap on a dark screen will not wake it.
To wake the screen, use the power button. Or, for a tap-to-wake shortcut, turn on Double tap to turn on screen under Settings → Advanced features → Motions and gestures. After that, double-tapping the dark screen wakes it.
