Home hemodialysis checklist, compatible with NxStage System One and PureFlow SL
Welcome to RenaPal
A tap-through treatment checklist for home hemodialysis on the NxStage System One PureFlow. Walk through every step at a comfortable pace. Previous and Next buttons are big enough to use one-handed.
Built by a patient, for the others doing it. Every step and hold time was tuned by running real treatments. The on-screen rhythm matches what the protocol looks like at the kitchen counter, not a clinic flowchart.
All on the device, offline. Notes stay on the phone or tablet and are not shared.
Free version. Voice commands, spoken steps, session and BP timers, and custom keywords are part of the full version. Tap Settings → About to start a 30-day trial or buy the full version.
Welcome to RenaPal
A hands-free treatment checklist for home hemodialysis on the NxStage System One PureFlow. Tap to advance through every step, or run the whole session by voice so the hands stay on the cycler, the lines, and the access site.

Voice in, voice out, on the device, offline. The phone or tablet stays in arm's reach without needing to be touched mid-procedure.
RenaPal is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by NxStage Medical or Fresenius Medical Care. The content is a checklist aid, not medical advice. Always follow the dialysis-center protocols and the cycler manufacturer's instructions. All information is kept on the device and is not shared.

Settings
Current: Daytime · PureFlow · Paper
Treatment mode
Daytime and Overnight treatments use different equipment lists (overnight adds a vascular access leak device + infusion pump). Choose the one matching this session.
Dialysate source
PureFlow SL mixes dialysate at home from a single PAK. Bags use pre-mixed bagged dialysate hung on an IV pole.
Logging method
How treatment data is recorded. Nx2me iPad captures cycler data automatically; paper requires manual entry on the dialysis center's flowsheet.

Voice mode
When off, the voice bar in the checklist is replaced by Previous / Add Note / Next buttons. No microphone, no spoken steps.
When off, advancing highlights the step silently instead of reading the line.
When on, the screen may go dark on the normal idle timeout while voice mode runs. Mic stays open and step audio still plays. Saves battery on long treatments.
Voice output
RenaPal uses the device's default text-to-speech voice. Whatever's set as the system default plays.

Voice input
When on, voice commands are ignored unless prefixed with "RenaPal". Useful when others are talking nearby.
Command setup
Change the trigger word for each built-in command. Example: replace "next" with "boom", or "add note" with "scribble". One trigger per command.
Command tuning
Review and remove existing custom corrections, including the seeded fallbacks for common mishearings (e.g., "shave note" → save note).
Prescription
Values are determined by the clinic and should not be changed without clinic review and approval.
Patient-specific values used throughout the checklist. The checklist substitutes these in at render time so the spoken and on-screen steps always reflect what's set here. Tap the ↻ next to a value to see its change history. Current weight is per-treatment (also editable from the bottom nav Weight button); Weight to lose is computed (current − target, clamped to zero).
Timers
Adds a clock chip (count-up) to the timer bar above the menu. Tap play/pause to control. When the recording step is reached, the prompt to stop is skipped and the timer stops automatically if Auto-start is on.
When set, the session clock starts automatically the first time the checklist advances past this step.
Adds a blood-drop chip (countdown) to the timer bar. When it hits zero a verbal reminder fires, then the timer restarts after the buffer below.
When set, the BP reminder starts automatically the first time the checklist advances past this step.
⚠ BP reminder is on. It won't run if no auto-start step is selected.
How often the BP reminder fires once started.
Delay between the reminder firing and the timer restarting its countdown. Gives time to actually take the reading.

Preview tier (demo build)
Switching reloads. T-10 / T-5 / Expired auto-fire their popup. Expired represents what the user sees after the trial calendar runs out. (Internally the downgrade waits for the next treatment to finish, but the popup never mentions that — telegraphing the rule would invite stalling.)

Activating...
Notification sounds silenced
Notification and system sounds have been silenced while voice mode is on so they do not interrupt the treatment. Phone calls still ring normally.
To hear notification sounds during treatment, increase the Notification or System volume here in settings.
Waking the screen back up
The phone keeps running while the screen is dark - the mic and step audio still work. A single tap on a dark screen will not wake it.
To wake the screen, use the power button. Or, for a tap-to-wake shortcut, turn on Double tap to turn on screen under Settings → Advanced features → Motions and gestures. After that, double-tapping the dark screen wakes it.
